Most of the people who follow my career are not from my hometown, Sacramento. Sacramento, in fact, has a long history of not supporting their own. As I begin to rally up a following for my new album, my first mission is to bring people together: to have fun and to celebrate some of the best folks Sacramento offers.

Marcus Riley is my childhood friend. His athletic skills has taken him all the way to the NFL and throughout his journey, he has continued to rep this city. Just finished listening to that Kendrick Lamar jam. Oooooooh shit. It’s definitely one of those ones. I mean I got a summer jam but I think I can honestly admit that this is better.

Did that thing again last night where I ran through the last couple years in my head, really wondering where the time went and if I missed my chance. It always makes sense when I play it back like that. I guess the fact of the matter is, I didn’t set myself up to further my grind. I gave up on my grind. At least, I gave up on the path that I was on and I didn’t anticipate all the other things might stop me from reaching the full potential of my grind. Just like now, I wanted to be independent and I wanted to be instantly successful and the odds just seemed against me. It’s crazy how you can go on a tangent for years. What I want to do requires sacrifice. I must remember that. I must remember that I’m not losing, I’m sacrificing. And the act of sacrificing, what separates it from losing, is that you are conscious and cooperative in the inevitability of loss. Stay conscious. Stay cooperative. Remember why you sacrifice. And gain all there is to gain from it.
